Doug Wilson - PGA of Canada Life Member
A native of 'The Home of Golf', Doug's family moved from Scotland to Paris, Ontario when he was an infant and he was introduced to the game by his father at The Paris Golf Club. In his early teens the family moved back to Scotland, near St Andrews where his passion for the game grew. He became the youngest golf professional in Scotland when at the age of 21 he was appointed Head Golf Professional at Douglas Park, a Private Club on the outskirts of Glasgow.
At Douglas Park, he developed a reputation as an excellent teacher and player of the game and was invited to the Middle East to be the Teaching Professional at the Awali Golf Club in Bahrain. After returning to Canada, Doug worked in key roles roles at The Galt Country Club, Owen Sound Golf & Country Club, The Diamond 'in the Ruff and Bigwig Island.
From his experience competing in the Canadian Open, Doug learned that focussing solely on technique is not the best path to success and as a result has dedicated himself to learning more about all aspects of playing the game in order to help others attain their golfing goals.
In addition to coaching golf, Doug was a Learning Facilitator/Educator for 25 years in the Professional Golf Management Degree and Diploma at Georgian College in Barrie and a National Facilitator of the PGA of Canada's Teaching & Coaching Certification Program for 10 years. He is a Life Member in good standing of the PGA of Canada.
